Ruth Britton opened The Quilt Box in 2002. Her grandmother Ruth Wilson, did machine quilting in the Perkins area for 20+ years. Ruth also got a taste for Quilts from her mom Mae Roberts, who also helps us with “The Quilt Box” and has a wealth of knowledge of Quilts and loves helping new and long time quilters. Mae will be teaching some quilting classes in our shop.

Ruth wanted to start carrying some fabrics to add to her machine quilting, just to be of help to her customers, so we opened in a small store front on 12th street in Stillwater, We had no ideal how fast things would change and that in just a few short months, our cozy little shop would be too small for the demand we found. We wanted to stay around downtown, and thanks to Jack Allred, who had bought two stores that needed a lot of fixing up on Main Street, we found a new home just three blocks north of where we started. We are working on adding some of the back room into the main part of the store, so as to have a bigger area for quilting classes.
